Dental radiographs (X-rays) are excellent diagnostic tools that provide information that isn’t evident during a typical dental exam. Dentists and dental hygienists use this information to uncover concealed dental issues and create an exact treatment plan in a safe and accurate manner. Problem areas may be undiscovered without X-rays, which is why we recommend x-rays for most patients.
Are Dental X-Rays Safe?
Radiation occurs naturally in our everyday lives, and we’re constantly exposed to it. And, according to the American Dental Association (ADA), x-ray exposure from dentistry only makes up a small portion of the total exposure we experience. This includes both the natural and man-made radiation we come into contact with.
